  1. The civil War changed the south in many ways. It abolished slavery, and split families apart. Before the Civil War the "old" south had slaves, and many people who where white just had parties all day long. After the Civil War the "new" south was the white people had to do all the work themselves. Everyone was equal, except not in all ways. The Civil War changed the way people lived forever. :)

  2. The Civil War changed the south in many ways. After the Civil war slavery was abolished, this changed the lives of many in the south. In the “old” south there were many superficial people that had money and fancy parties. The “new” south left the slaves free which meant that the whites in the south had to take care of themselves. Before the Civil War lots of people had stocks which made them higher class citizens. But now in the “new” south the people that were considered higher class citizens moved down to the middle class and even lower class citizens. These people that lived in the south after had not a clue how to live without money. This Civil War meant that the “old” south would be gone forever and changed into the “new” south with no slavery, and lower class citizens.

  3. The Civil War changed the south dramatically. The old south was very high class and sophisticated, now the new south is more based on family and just trying to stick together. The war tore through families and businesses like scissors with paper. The new south had no slaves and had many just average people. The citizens had to figure out how to live a whole new life style from what they were used to.

  4. I really agree with Kacie. The Civil War changed a whole life style. People were used to relying on slaves in the old south, and after the war they had to do things themselves, they were no longer a higher class.

  5. I think that todays society is alot different than the old south. Familys have alot more privilages and simplicity. also, We don't have slaves and the poor conditions in which others in the old south had to live under.
The way they lived in the south was changed a very drastic amount by the war. It ruined lots of things.

  6. I agree with Shanika because she makes some good point about what was going on around that time.

I also agree with Kacie cause she was right in saying how the war changed everything about the way that they lived in the old south.

  7. I think that most people agree with the new way of life that people have created. But with almost everything you get the occasional person who is still stuck in the old ways and wont see past that and accept new ideals that society proposes.
